Postpartum   depression

THE EFFECTS
It is a type of depression that affect women after childbirth.  Symptoms include sadness, fatigue, crying episodes, anxiety and irritability, changes in sleeping and eating patterns.  Mothers may be inconsistent with childcare.  Personal and familiar past history so as present social support have to be considered in evaluating security for the child.

PREDICTORS  and   PREVALENCE
Post partum depression is found across the globe, withrates varying from 11% to 42%  (data at 2009).
