Relaxation   techniques

Relaxation techniques would have to be the first choice for stress and anxiety situations, and a good integration to many other kinds of therapies for different disorders.

Autogenic Training
Autogenic Training helps to restore the balance between the activity of the sympathetic and the parasympathetic branches of the autonomic nervous system.  Even if it is often practised individually, to obtain the best effects, expecially if it is mixed to other techniques, a supervisor guide is suggested.

Hypnosis
Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy come from the XIX Century and are still important instrument, in spite some persisting skeptical positions, they are applied both in relaxing contests and in therapeutic actions. A qualified supervision is required.

Neurofeedback
It is a type of biofeedback to teach self-regulation of some brain functions.  In the latest years the studies on neuroplasticity are confirming some neurofeedback assumptions. A  qualified teacher or supervisor is required.

Clinical Reflexology
It is one of the most diffused technique in the latest years, mainly among women and youthes.   It is not only a relaxing technique but may help in therapies for a rather wide group of disorders, starting from stress and anxiety till menstrual, pregnancy, headaches, disorders.  A professional reflexologist is required, expecially for clinical applications.  The website www.reflexologystudio.org offers several suggestions.

Progressive muscle relaxation (Jacobson)
An easy technique that sometime is practised in group.  It is mainly oriented to monitor and control the state of muscolar tension.  It is also named "progressive relaxation".  A teacher of rupervisor is required.

Visualization
Also named "guided imagery", may be used in several situations, is practised by phisicians, psychologists and itegrative medicine practitioners.

Yoga
Ancient and today rather popular, is not just a relaxing technique.  So as Ayurveda it may be applied to several situations and disorders but it is required a qualified teacher as some techniques have to be avoided in some situations (age, pregnancy, etc.) as may give problems and produce physical harms.
